Now I don't get a new bike often [ Last time was 1981] but her indoors has come into a little windfall an is treating me so top runners in the yes please are

Ktm Freerider 350r

Montesa 4ride

Montesa 4rt road legal with long ride kit

Yamaha Wr 250f

And yes I will be keeping the TTR but she has put a line down saying the xr has to go as I only have one ass and something has to go for the new to come in I'm leaning towards the 4ride

Hi Pug.
I remember the XR. But can you send over details when you are ready. A guy in North Tawton is after a bike.

Thanks

Rich I did see it up for sale on the TRF forum the last 2smoker off roader I had was a Suzuki Beamish 250 in 1976-77 just been down for a test rides this afternoon on the Ktm freerides the 250t and 350f nice bike's. the 350 is much like the TTr but so much lighter and with a lovey punchy motor and closer to a Trials bike than even the TTr the 250 is even better still but it's a smoker an pretty twitchy for a old fart like me. I'm off to have a spin on the Montesa 4 ride next week when I can get a half day at work I like the montesa trials bikes an can still ride one into a skip an out without a dab down so I got to try the 4ride. but it's the Ktm 350 so far

Steve Mate I did like the WR 250f but it was just to Enduro bike and tall for me I'm 5 foot 9 and long body short leg I dropped the test bike 2 times in as many minutes. and I hate to say it the KTM 350 EXC is a better bike even with the short service rebuild times. you would love the Beta XTrainer mate it is a cracking bike like they all say it's a 3/4 size Enduro Bike and for anyone that likes to nail it open from time to time and green lanes it's the one to go for. as for me I wanted a lane rambler that would climb a mountain rock hop all at 4-5 mile an hour and it had to have a seat as well so it came down to the 4rt with a bolt on long ride seat or the 4Ride

So is the Montesa 4Ride took the prize Money

I've had an eye on the x trainer for a while, but now youve got me thinking!! I love the look of the Montessa, and so light.
Did you manage to get a test ride?

Yes Fowlers Bristol sorted a test ride on the 4Ride but have spent a good deal of time on a mates 4rt last year till he got a new gas gas so I new more or less what was what. The bikes coming from St blazey Mx. if you like the Enduro feel to a bike then try the X Trainer the 4Ride is a Trials bike with a seat I'm not getting shot of the TTr it's still the best all round lane tool you can get but it wont do what the 4Ride can do unless it had a Pro rider on the seat

Think I'll get one of each, now that would be a dream come true. Pleased you're keeping the ttr, though. 👍🏼
How many miles do you think you'd get from a full tank on the lanes?

They say 74 miles so 65-70 there is room under the seat for 2-3 litres more it will be finding the fuel bottles that will fit in the hole under the seat with some tools so on the bike you will be looking to fill up at a pump around the 100 mile mark.

I was in Bristol today and popped into Fowlers. First bloke in the off-road/ktm area had never heard of Montesa, bloke in Honda building told me to go to Gloucester or Cornwall 🙁. Look forward to your first run report. I guess it will be great on the difficult stuff, but I wonder about the tarmac in between. I really do like the look of them 👍🏼👍🏼.

Off there site mate

www.fowlershonda.co.uk/honda/new/bikes/off%20road/2017honmontesacota4ride.htm               then go new off road bikes

You go to them because they are the main Honda/Montesa dealers southwest they are a bunch of knobs then get sent to St blazey mx. This is why it took two weeks of looking you try doing it with 5 makes of bike
No one is very helpful even the people at St blazey could do with a good brush up on how to do sales
Mark bike will be hear in the week give me a week or two to drop it a time or two and mark it up an you can come round an have look and a spin on it

Yep, crazy isn't it? And they have them on their website. Fowlers are good for a fry up and a browse, but no good if you want to do business.
Pug, thanks for the offer, I'm definitely up for that. I'll bring down the ttr, be good to hit a few lanes.

Interesting video, it's been a while since there has been a Trials based Trail bike rather than a enduro based.  Subject to the style of riding you do it could be ideal, My mate had a 125cc back in the 80's much like that, can't remember the model name Cota perhaps

10 years in the East end as a kid an the rest in deep Devon makes for a nasty mix the one that get's me is I always get the one with the thick scotch accent when I end up on the line to a call Center and it never ends well................................

Steve when I'm heading out your way next I will tip you a call and stop in for a Coffee I Think you have moved since was last over that way. I have been riding solo trips out for a fair time now as Oly is a bit thumb pushed by Doris and been enjoying the lanes at my own speed

Honda got into bed with Montesa in 1986... How the Honda 2T  trials bikes came to be...

Montesa were having finacal issues... Honda took over Montesa in 1994...

1993 was the last year you could buy a REAL Montesa...

part of the take agreement was that Honda would keep the Montesa name for 10 years

" they have now kept longer" but they did put the "HRC" sticker on them...

the purest's would argue that all real Montesa's are pre 1986... before Honda got involved...
