Fork(bottom bolt) stuck OE
Permalink

I am breaking the forks to clean the oil & replace the seals purchased from TotallyTTrs.com

one of the forks is proving a bugger to get the bottom bolt out...apparently there is "another way"...as hard as I search, I can't find it though!

Can anyone enlighten me please?

Regards

Rod

I used a cheap air compressor, purchased from TK Maxx for £8.99, branded "Street Wise" with a apparent max psi output of 250psi (dont believe it..) Can add pics...

Took the fork seal clip out, wrapped the fork in a plastic liner to stop the mess and then hooked the air compressor up to the valve at the top, switched it on and waited.

After a couple of minutes the seals popped out. Worked perfectly on both shocks and will be the method i use in the future...

I even had a video somewhere. You got whatsapp Rod?

Moo- thank you...I'm going to try that method...I had read about Brian's attempt and the explosion!..I can hardly wait...its timelapse time!!
I thought there was another way to strip the forks- so all components were accessible??.
