Brake pad replacement, unidentified part
Permalink

Hello everyone. I've been lurking here since picking up a 2006 TTR250 last year. I appreciate all the great information -- it's all been very helpful in getting the bike back in shape for the trails.

My little project this weekend is to replace the worn brake pads. However, when removing the rear brake pads, a part (pictured) fell to the ground and now I'm unsure where or how it goes back in. I see no mention of the part in the service manual nor is it pictured the exploded parts diagram.

Does anyone recognize this part, and how it fits back in with the brake pads/caliper assembly?

Is it a spacer that fits into the plastic guard that surrounds the brake caliper?

I agree with Moo - looks like it's from the grey plastic disc guard wink

Bingo! That's exactly where it goes. Not sure why I didn't see that. The mystery part is back in it's rightful place.

Thanks so much!
