Problems with TTR 250 no Power ;-( !

I have a problem with a TTR 250. Engine jumps well with choke and runs idle without choke very well. When driving comes no power and the engine jerks. Feels too little gasoline, or misfiring. Who can help me with tips? I would like to sell the TTR, but only if it drives well.
Many Thanks !
Chris

Hi Chris,

Have you looking into the carburetor at all? Do you know if it has been altered or is it running stock jets?

Also has your airbox been modified? Like holes cut in the side or had the snorkel removed?

I look in the carb, but i don`t see anything is wrong... !? Also i think that the Airbox is original. How many turns must the idle jet be turned?

I would always suspect a fuel problem first. If it starts and runs ok at tickover , but not when the throttle is twisted, maybe the main jet is blocked in the carb. The holes are very small and need cleaning with a fine strand of soft wire to be sure they are clear - blowing air through is often not enough.

Also check the rubber that connects the carb to the engine is not separating from the metal flange, oh and make sure there is A GOOD FLOW OF FUEL FROM THE TANK

There is also a small filter above the float valve which might be restricting flow

Split diaphragm?

Good luck,

Simon.

Steve means one and a half to two and a half turns out for the pilot air screw

That's what I thought he meantwink

What's the idle jet then and how do you turn it, to adjust it?

I know you can lift or lower the clip on the needle, but the turning out has got me confusedconfuseconfuseconfuse

I would be checking the main jet for blockage or the carb inlet stub for a crack/spilt

Thank you at All, my TTR runs very well now. Problem was the Mixing nozzle and Needlejet. I have thoroughly cleaned all the holes of the mixing nozzle and that was probably the cause.

Great news.
Now you want to ride and enjoy it not sell it?

Steve - I think your interpretation was correct - just a translation thing.
