Grease nipple

I have had a few TTR's over the years but one I bought recently I noticed that its got a grease nipple on the rear shock linkage. I am trying to work out if someone has done this or its a lowering link. the bike sits lower I think than others I have had. But maybe its just me, because I have always adjusted the springs to make the bike higher. I cannot find any marking on the link anywhere!!

Almost certainly an after-market link if it has no markings and the rest of the linkage has no grease nipples.

If a lowering link has been fitted I am thinking that would be fairly obvious as it would have dropped the seat by 2"

The earlier TTRs had grease nipples on all the linkage, later ones (certainly the blue models) had none.

I assumed it was Mr Yamaha's bean counters trying to cut cost but I heard an explanation that there were problems with owners overdoing the greasing and forcing out the seals.

Got a better photo, you can see it's not original it's a different shape.

It's not a Totally TTRs link. Could be a home made one?

Mine had one too think it was standard link too, easily fitted by someone just drill and tap a tread in place and fit a grease nipple
