well I got a ride on one a couple hours ago... foots still not right

so was a bit of slow poddle around... i have been eyeing them for a while now

as a replacement for the TTR as a dirt only bike ... put the TTR back on the road..

dam they are nice... but not as bigger power hit as I exspected.. but still more than enough..

they feel so light with the fuel carryed under the seat & weight so far back  the front can be lifted

at will make logs/banks easy..

with the reverse motor the air intake is up by the steering head... water crossings would be no worry...

It was quite high me being a short ass... they don't make real bikes my size any more...

but the guy that owns it is quite big/heavy so the springing is way harder than I would have so my

weight didn't compress it much at all...

Now do I want to spend 12 grand....

My mate (older than me!) has just bought a new YZ250FX - mental no

Mind you he was UK's SW Over-50s enduro champion a few years ago!

No doubt the WR250F has a stonking motor but it was lack of 6th gear that used to spoil them. I think the new ones have the full set?

Nice bike but compared to the ttr ariound here they are rare due to the higher maintenance and stuff like radiators let you down occasionally

My mate paid just over £6k for his new YZ250FX. He reckons the ignition mapping allows it to be a sensible trail riding tool so he can race his enduros and take it trail riding wink

Wouldn't be my choice but I no longer do enduros!

the real draw back i find with the TTR is ... if yer riding above trail riding speeds
it be comes a very tireing bike after a hour or so....

but other than that it works well in standard trim...

Here in Australia Yamaha still sell the WR250R, perfect replacement for the TT250R 5k oil changes etc. Cost me $8000 Aus on road, I paid $6000 aus on road for the TTR in 2013, I think Australia was one of the last selling the TTR, the WR250F would be nice but too much money for my skill set plus I don't want to be changing oil at 500kms

Now a WR450R would be nice !!!

is doing run out prises to get rid of there stock...

I was doing the TTR every 5000kms with a really good semi/syn oil, Yamaha say 10000kms so 5k was ok, The WRR is recomended at 5000kms & is being done today

My rides would range from 150kms to 400kms in a day & very common to do a 250kms ride, my XR was done at 1000kms as per Honda's service schedule

Lad at work with a WR450 was changing the oil at 500kms & would add up after a while, I just paid $40 for 2lts of oil & $15 for a filter, at least my 2 x Triumphs are every 10k & that costs me around $60-$65 for oil & filter

 Hey Terry,

Do you mean you serviced the TTR at 500k and Yamaha recommend 1000k servicing? I haven't seen where the ttr is recommended 10k servicing? I've wondered how the ttr would put up with longer servicing than 1000k if mostly road riding.
