carby pilot jet help please
Permalink

Hello

I have just got myself a 52.5  Mikuni pilot jet and I have noticed the pilot jet is a lot longer than the original jet

I was wondering if anyone would recommend taking the white fuel splash shield that goes around the main jet off.

To me it looks like it may affect the flow to the pilot jet and if i was to remove the splash shield would it effect the bike?

thanks heaps

Hi Marcus and welcome to the forum!

The pilot jet only uses a tiny amount of fuel so I would recommend leaving the white protector on - I think it is to stop surging. They weren't fitted to carbs on early models of the TTR250 and Mr Yamaha wouldn't spend extra money on a part unless it solved a known problem.
