If an Acerbis tank for an XR will fit a TTR, will a standard XR tank fit too? I want a black tank for my project bike. A decent OE one is prooving tricky to find but if I can find a black plastic one, that might do the trick. Are they the same shape throughout the range (250, 400, 650...)?

Ride safe,

Simon.

The xr 250 -400 will fit with a couple of extender plates made up to fit it to the front mounts and a plate made for the back to clip it to the TTr seat an strap . but I have never seen a black Xr up close but I think they are all the later model one's [ ie it's a metal tank] just before the they called it a Tornado an then went back to plastic and slapped bolt on sides on the tank like they where covering imaginary radiator's that the motor did not have on sum of them as well.I think any tank that will fit will be white or red Orange if the sun's got to it I don't know about the metal xr tanks fitting only the xr125 an that's a no fit I have tried it. chap was trying to get shot of a white tank or two a little time back on ebay

It was a stock pile of tanks left over after swapping the bikes to the acerbic tanks for the army. what I could never under stand seeing as all the bikes where then painted khaki green why did they only start with white bikes. the number of xr 250 bikes dun like this varies on who you talk to but around the 170-200 number comes up most of the time.

Hi Gang
Per your post it apprears the xr tanks acribis/Clarke xr tanks are the way to go.
I have given up trying to find a good used Yamaha tank & a steel raid tank. Before I make the plunge with my wallet for one. Can anyone please show me more pics . I have scowered the pages and can only come up with one pic of a Clarke tank. Its red & the way the pic was taken its hard to see how well it fits the seat. That seat in the pic was modified anyway for a shorter person. im not interested in the acribis but mainly the Clarke or the stock XR tank. The Clarke is available in Blue. Anyone know if its similar blue to the Yamaha TTR250. If it was the same blue & fits the seat well im happy with that. I can make /modify any mounts reqd. ANy pics or comments on Clarke blue would be really appreciated.
Thanks so much
Kevin in Canada
