Hello everyone out there !

Ive got a few "dirt" bikes and enjoy getting out in the bush as well as zipping through the terrible Johannesburg traffic on a bike.

I ride a CRF250x and a KDX200 offroad (Enduro) and use my TTR250 for light trails, exploring and roads.

Want to stay in touch with other lovers of this well rounded piece of kit.

Hi there Steve,

This is my TTR, minus the tank and navigation stuff.

I got it from him almost two years ago.

Welcome, Ron.

I remember the red tank, but did he sell you the brick as well as the bike? confuse

The brick was not included but the overall package was a good deal.

This bike can go almost anywhere given enough time.
Id stop just short of going full off-road in Lesotho but I would do the odd enduro on it for sure.

Sadly the road book was not part of the deal; happily use this to ride around town and explore new urban enduro shortcuts.
I can still climb onto dirt in about 5 km from my house and get out a 100km without touching tar. As new fences and developments happen; the TTR is used to explore and find ways around for when I race through there on my other bikes.

Hey there, where'd you get the tank - and how many litres does it hold?
I am looking to extend the range on mine for some Lesotho trips, including one from Bloemfontein to Port Shepstone. Interested in a trip like that?
Going from Ficksburg (where I used to live for 30 years) to Mokhotlong, there's a short cut from Seshote to Tlokoeng. Not doing THAT again on my F650GS.
Two years ago, broke my own rules of minimum luggage and nothing over 250cc / 130Kg. And paid for it - 6 hours for a 30Km section. Not fun at 2400m alt. on a 650.
TTR would have been good. I think it is a good Lesotho bike, not for the "Roof" but great for touring the less used roads / tracks.
My XR400 too much of a handful for me in loose rocks and one of the really ideal Lesotho bikes, my KDX 200, way not enough range.
Could kick myself for being talked into selling my old '84 XR200.
Anyway, enough digression - about that tank?
Bloemfontein / Ficksburg.

Only realised now that you did not get the tank with the bike. Pity, though for your needs, the standard tank probably better, certainly lighter with a full load of fuel

Yip; tank sold off to someone else by previous owner; I'm interested in doing a really gnarly Lesotho trip yes. (5L steel jerry can has not let me down)

I have done a few but want to do some more in the South around Sehlabathebe and Quachas Nek.

Ive done a fair share on big bikes (KLR650 and a BMW1200) like Sani to Maseru,  Sani - Monantsa , Monansa to Tele Bridge ; Maseru to Malelea overland,  etc. ; nothing on the TTR.

The hardcore south is calling and the TTR is the perfect bike for when it gets really rough.  (Its a 4T KDX in essence)

Will chat about when exactly ; This month is tight for time with commitments, I'm doing an enduro tour in Swaziland in Oct and end of November I'm spectating the roof.

Maybe right after the roof; we can go via Baboons pass.

Appreciating the 4T 250's these days.

My dirt bike and my exploring road legal dirt bike.

In the last week since this shot I have replaced the handguards on the CRF and ordered grab straps for it too.
I need to sort out my TTR's bashplate and I have put the stock exhaust back on this week to quieten it down a little.

Welcome from a fellow Saffa, down Cape Town way.  Pieter gave me some info and feedback before I pulled the trigger on my TTR, absolutely loving it.

Photo from this weekend past, will put a few more on the ride section.  Covered about 800 km of mostly dirt in 2 days.
