Took the ttr out to try the fork set up change a lot of dust ruts rocks and steep hills
Changed to silkoline light (5wt) 10 clicks out and tried 3psi in the the forks (normally don't run air )
Very happy with it on all surfaces like the extra height in the front which moved me and a bit of weight more to the back wheel .improved down hill feel a lot
i bought mine at super cheap auto it was on special about 10 bucks per liter off .
ive just done a search online and it looks like supercheap are now stocking penrite fully synthetic 5wt ans 10wt , maybe it was a clearance price on the silkoline .

Its interesting about oils. My personal feeling is people often spend way too much money on oil and then change it so early it seems a waste. That's only my personal opinion as I am no expert that's for sure.
I've just bought Penrite Car oil for the bikes - Gas 10 (MA rated etc) - $35 for 5 litres instead of $60 for 4 litres - was using Sikolene Super 4 semi -synthetic
The MC-4 specs seem very similar if not the same as GAS 10, which is $10 cheaper plus an extra litre. The Activ 4 looks good value too - in Tassie it gets quite cold, I'd use the activ 4 except its 15-50w, prefer the 10-50 (but does it really make that much difference?? I really don't know)
I've done a bit of reading about oils in bikes and cars and there are a whole lot of people in Aus using Penrite Gas 10, Delo 400, HPR 15 in dirtbikes with no issues long term. There is so much marketing around oils you wouldn't know what to believe. A lot of people seem to be using cheap oil and changing it often. I don't understand using really expensive oils and changing them every second ride. But then again I own bikes that would probably run if you put Canola oil in them. I think we all worry too much.
I'm on a tight budget so always interested in saving the $$.
agree , im a fan of a cheaper oil changed more often , especially when a wet clutch is involved . im very weary of sales hype .
i did a really hard ride last week end taking 9 hours to complete only 200Ks , so will prob change the oil very soon , sometimes i will wait till i start missing gears if im a bit lazy .
as for the forks on the other hand the castrol was very ordinary after 12 months so i was happy to try something new there , and as Ive mentioned else where very happy with the reduced dive with the oil level raised to 100mm up from 130mm as in the manual .
Oil changes for me seem to be around the 7-800klm mark generally, as you say you feel the gear change become less smooth.
I know nothing about fork oil, but seeing 3 or 4 people on here saying they like the 5w Sikolene I am going to change the oil with that as a starting point. I had the oil changed 3 years ago when I purchase the bike. I don't know what they used, but it seems ok to me. But I don't have a lot of experience to compare it too. I do know I like the front end way more than the front end on my DRZ400 - but that might be for many other reasons.
