Some sort of steel - same material from 1993 to 2011.

I am sure someone will be along with a better answer but it gives me an excuse to exercise my curiosity and ask why you want to know? I am intrigued biggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrin

Me and a few mates were having a bit of a chat about his TTR were talking about boring out, and rings.

Just came up as we have tool room and machine man asked as he thought he might be able to do it, and wanted to know.

Someone said steel, and a 2 stroke lad said his was Nickle Coated Aluminium

Ahhh - it's definitely not Nikasil or otherwise plated. Plated barrels can't be bored and are instead re-plated.

The TTR barrel can be re-bored wink

i dont think they are niksil but bores can be bored oversize & re nikasil again but expensive check bore for size if within limits re hone to get cross hatching back to rebed the new rings in dont forget to check valve guides if they are ok fit new stem seals run in on cheap oil to bed in new rings then after approx 800 to 1000 miles change oil for good quality oil

If I had to take a guess..... manganise iron
is what "most" steel liners are...

If you are making a liner... I have made them from

old used diesel truck engine liners.. was for a DR400
