Stiff Gear Change
Permalink

Hi,

I have a 1997 250 Raid and over the last 2-300 mile the gear change from 1st to neutral has become very stiff and am now at the point where it just wont go at all unless the bike is off, even pulling away and going for 2nd is becoming stiff?

Has anyone had this issue or knows what the problem might be? and any possible remedies?

Thanks in advance, Bob

Gear changes can get "stiffer" as you approach time to change the oil but your symptoms sound a tad more severe!

Could it be the clutch is not fully disengaging?

I've adjusted clutch cable to its max, its a little better so maybe a new cable will fix the problem?

You may need to look at the position of the clutch actuator arm at the gearbox end of the cable - see http://ttr250.activeboard.com/t57238119/clutch-adjustment/
