engine cut out problem
Permalink

Hi, I am new to the forum and would like to know if anyone has an answer to a problem that started recently on my 1994 Yamaha TT 250 Raid.

When I turn on the ignition the dash lights sometimes don't come on and allow me to start the engine. If I leave it for a while with the key in the on position suddenly they come on and I can start the bike. While running if I switch the headlights on the engine cuts and the ignition once again goes dead and refuses to come back on. Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Welcome to the forum.smilesmile

I would suggest to  check all the wires on the back of the ignition switch first, easy to do and does not cost a thingsmile

I am sure Steve is right - bad connection somewhere.

The most obvious place to look is the connectors going into the switch - see below.

Feed to ignitioin switch.jpg

Also check the bullet connector that runs off the fuse box on top the battery box.

I am assuming that the battery terminals are on tight.

With mine it was the ign switch .I took it out removed the back cleaned it up and it's all ok again .

Also the loose conectors ext can do the same .

If you can get it when it's playing up wriggle each conevtion carfuly to narrow it down with the switch just bridge the two wires if it comes good it's the switch
