jst installed a 525 chain with 14/42T on a 1993 OE TTR. Bike ride fines but creates a chain dragging noise on the chain guard on the lower side.. any suggestion for a good chain size and sprocket?

Hi there and welcome to the forum! What part of the world are you from? No info on your profile cry

Are you sure that you have a 525 chain and not a 520? The reason I ask is that I wasn't aware that 525 sprockets were available for the TTR250.

Most owners use the 520 chain and sprockets which are a better fit between the lower chain guide.

from maldives.. yea this one was sold by the shop saying it would fit on ttr.. but believe the reason why its creating the dragging noise is its not suitable for ttr... 520 13/52 is it a good one for ttr?

Maldives? Wow - fabulous. Are there many TTR250s on the islands?

Regarding your gearing, much depends on how you will use the TTR. If it is all flat road work then 14/44 is the standard gearing. If you have a lot of hills then 14/48 might be good and this gives the option of using a 13T front sprocket if you take the TTR off road.

PS It would be great to see some photos of your TTR in your surroundings biggrinbiggrinbiggrin
