Carb Problems on 1999 TTR250 Like New

Hey everyone I am posting in need of help with my TTR250. I recently got a TTR 250 about late summer of 2015 it is a 1999 bought brand new by the previous owner (my grandfather) in 2003. He put about 370 Kilometres on the bike and it sat in a shed since about 2006. I bought it off him and cleaned the fuel system and bought a new spark plug.  It runs fine and starts and idles no problem but when I go to sixth gear and I'm high throttle it just starts sputtering and if I pull the clutch in them it quits running and needs the choke to start again no matter how warm. Any help from people with experience of this problem or people who know what causes this would be appreciate, thanks. And one more thing has anyone ever experienced theirs get so hot the pipe glows red because mine does once in a while and it scares me. Thanks in advance.

Hello. Im thinking your bike is running extremly lean. Can be dangerous in blowing up the motor.  prob blocked jet from sitting with no use. Other forum members will be online (in there timezone later).
