I just bought a 2006 TTR250 so I could ride with My kids.  It has a leaky carb but had the top end rebuilt at the end of last season.  Runs well, but sometimes it seems like the throttle sticks - though the cable returns.  I'm assuming the carb just needs a great cleaning.

Here are the bikes I have with some pics to follow.

2012 Chinese ATV for my daughter.  1996 PW50 for my youngest son, 2000 XR80R for my older boy, 2009 DRZ125 for anyone who comes over to ride, and finally my 2006 TTR250 for me..

Welcome to the forum.

If the cables are fairly new and routed correctly then check the slide in the carb, and the actuator that the cables attach to.

Thank you for the advice, it is much appreciated.  I will check that.  The cables and throttle position return fine, it's the engine revs that don't come down.  I'm sure it has to be something in the carb and since it leaks anyways, I need to disassemble it.

Here are the pics of my bikes...

Welcome to the forum, Seb.

Another quick check is to take a look at the rubber inlet stub.

These have been known to separate from the alloy inner and then leak air.

But - if the carb is being taken off for a clean/inspection then it will be seen and taken care of, maybe. confuse

Thanks guys.  I pulled the carb apart and a float post was missing.  my guess is that was why the last guy sold the bike.  I repaired it and it still seems to lope a bit and revs stick high.

On another note, I took it for a good trail ride yesterday.  It rides great and handles nicely on the bumps...
