Clutch Take Up

OK, so when the clutch is in all the way, no drag or anything, fully disengaged then slowly let it out and nothing till it hits a very narrow section of 15mm

Lever is adjusted with about 5mm of play at the very end of the lever, so 75mm travel pulled fully in, clutch take-up begins at 30mm out and fully out at 45mm

so it's pretty well dead in the middle

00mm - 30mm still disengaged
30mm - 45mm take-up area
45mm - 75mm fully engaged of course

So my question is this, how do I increase the take up area ??

I was thinking extend the "Clutch Push Arm" the one on the top of the gearbox say 5-10mm, that will efectivly make the clutch lever have to move more

to get the same movement at the push arm ??

Any suggestions anyone ??

that will work...
a common mod is to add 20mm to the xt660 arm to lighten
a very heavy clutch....also gives a bigger engaugement area...

Thanks for the info, I was just out walking the dog and was having second thoughts about which way I should go, in or out ?

so 20mm on the XT

I find the 1 finger on the TTR is a difficult pull, 2 is OK, 3 is best but only leaves 1 finger on the grip, eek, blankstare

I'll be trying that soon

How did you add 20mm onto the XT

I was thinking weld it on but try to leave the original position as well, it's a tight fit in there

Cheers

It's a bugger to do on the TTR by the looks of it, the swing arm pivot is right in the way but do-able I think

Have to think on it, maybe look around online see if I can find a lever solution

Thanks for the link, had to join, can't see photo's yet.
