Hi All

Report from my Irish adventure!

Comeragh from this here forum, kindly invited me and tigerman (from this here forum, but a ktm owner nownono) To the emarald islesmile Rat up a drain pipe moment!!!

Started of by loading the bikenew phone 8-3-16 1134.jpg

And went to pick up Paul, was a proper long journey. Set of from my place at 6.30 in the morning and got to the first nights b&b at 8.45pm.

The b&b is biker friendly see here  http://www.barnawee.com/

They made us feel very welcomesmile

Went out for a curry and a pint of Guinness and an early night.

Garry turned up in the morning and there had been heavy rain and storms in the night and paul thought it was just my snoringbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrin

We asked Garry where we was off to and he said up there, where? up there, oh the really? the white mountains up there? yep he said. The storm had laid a thick layer of snow up on the top of  Farbreaga.

So we set of eagerly.

Rode loads of forest tracks on the way up, the thing with Ireland, is you can ride where you like until someone tells you not tosmilesmilesmile I thinkconfuse that was the ideaconfuse.

Got quite a way up but was defeated by the snownonono 430 meters or feet??? not sure what it is on a os map??? Meters?

Oh forgot Garry was on a 2smoker that day, lucky he repented and took out the TTR on our second day.

Anyway we was meant to ride the ridge of Farbreaga and descend the other side, but we turned around and cut across lower ground on some more forest tracks.

On our journeys we came across Garry's new house, bit of a doer upperbiggrinbiggrinbiggrin

Made our way over to comeraghmountain ( yep Garry has a mountain named after him!) and then headed back to Dungarvan via more forestry tracks.

Needed a hot shower and went out in Dungarvan for some food and more guinesssmilesmile.

Got up early for a fry up and set of to pick Garry up (got three bikes in the back of the pick up, sorry no photo!) and set of towards Rosslare harbour for a beach ridesmilesmilesmile

Unfortunately Paul could not take to the sand, so it was left to Garry and I. Never road on a beach like this before, we had 18 miles of the sandy stuff in front of us!

Well we did hit a bit of rocky stuff!!!

Bash plates got a proper work out!

Garry showed me the basics,of beach riding, keep as far back on the bike as possible, keep the front light and pin itwinkwinkwink Worked a treat.

Stopped at Kilmore Quay met up with Paul and had a Sunday roastsmilesmilesmile

18 miles ride back to Rosslare. Rode some sand dunes and messed about on the beach a bit, the nice thing was that the few people we did see and the couple of pony riders were really pleased to see us and gave us a nice welcomesmile We always slowed down to a snails pace when passing the few people we saw.

Will add some video here, when i can get the youtube stuff to worknono

Sunday night was spent here http://www.riverbankhousehotel.com/

Really nice people and biker friendlysmile

Was a great adventure and one I will always remember.

Memories are made with friends and the adventures we have together are never forgottensmilesmilesmilesmile.

Steve.

Thanks, Steve, for your report.

I've never ridden on sand, apart from a little firkle on Redcar beach when the local club had a sand race (about 1975) - last century! biggrin

Your ride looked a little chilly up them big 'ills - rather you than me. disbelief

I'm now looking forward to seeing more pictures of your derring deeds, and Paul's, and Garry's.

Martyn

Great report and photos Steve! Glad you enjoyed Ireland - great place to ride.

I think countries like Ireland and France where the rural population is so thin on the ground makes the locals more relaxed compared to UK where everyone is fighting for space and privacy.

Looking forward to seeing more photos wink

Brian

Cheers for doing a report Steve, what we like to see.

Im real tempted to go over for few days trail riding holiday sometime. All in good time.

I've thought about going on the cb1300 but you cant do trails on that!

Does the Guinness really taste nicer??
