My 1995 OE

I picked this up last night (29/02/2016)

1995 OE model with 18000km on the clock, imported in to the UK in 1998

Its mot'd till September and i tax'd and insured it yesterday,

It needs some tlc, the left switchgear has a fault with the hazard switch, so ive ordered another one off Brian.

In a week or so i will strip the plastics and take off, and treat the surface rust on the frame, sand, prime and re paint, i will also go through the wiring loom and make sure it all up to scratch,

i need bar end weights for it, but im unsure what dia of bars it has fitted, ill need to check in the morning, i also have a fully working digital speedo and i HATE seeing KM's, so im using my Garmin Edge 200 to show mph, as soon as i source a normal speedo pickup, cable and clock ill change it all over, i also plan to ditch the standard headlight and fit either a 7" or 8" round glass headlight and 55w bulb, i brought the bike back home in the dark, the standard light is dangerous!

The decals are falling off, so they will be stripped of and replaced at some point, it will also get a fresh grippy black seat cover and new fork boots, i was going to try and keep the bike looking standard, but id prefer it working well, so if i need to change bits i will.

One of the rare red and gold TTRs you got there Garry wink

Got your order for the light switch but they don't have the extra hazard switch that early TTRs had which I hope won't be a problem - it's a bit OTT fitting hazards to a dirtbike anyways!

It is possible to keep the digital speedo and get it working to almost 100% right using a speedo healer - see here - probably easier and cheaper than going analogue.

Good looking bike, with a rack too! biggrin You can ditch the tax disc now wink

Putting a black seat cover on eh?!..

I would be tempted to keep the red seat and red fork gaiters and get an exact copy of the tank decal printed up.

The decals cant be saved, the front one is missing, so i mite not even put any back on, the fork gaiters need replaced, so just fancy black ones and the photo its making the red seat red, in real life in closer to pink, the rack is going to have to come off, i keep hitting my leg on it when getting on the bike, it will be up for sale soon.

just a toy really, i live on the west coast of Scotland, ive got lots of places close by i can take it off road, i used to have a 4x4 and always fancied having a bike i could take off road to, road legal enduro bikes or the like are not that common here.

I've not heard of anything, i still keep in touch with the folk i used to 4x4 with, they still use all the same areas, ive got a local hill with a quarry, forest and gravel roads that we are allowed on, bikes and quads, not many use it, 2 lads in my street both have bikes and its really just them, drumclog is a half hour up the road from me, still allowed in to that.

Most of the green roads then put it that way. The byways.

im not sure about other areas, but nothing in mine, got plenty of right of ways, like the green lanes you have, we don't have a trespassing law here so as long as im not doing any damage i have access to a lot of places.
