VM36? Skyteam Ace 125 with 315cc TTR engine conversion!

Hello all and Happy New Year, I'm fitting a TT-250R engine into another chassis . engine upgrade 325cc kit and Web camshafts. I have purchased a

TM38 Carb/pump which was set up for an XR400 but the carb is physically very big and I'll have clearance problems.

My question is do you think a VM36 carb would be suitable?  I have a soft spot for VM carbs becoz they give good performance reliable and easy to tune.

The VM36 sure would make it easier to fit.

Thanks in advance for any advice

  Don

Don, it seems that nobody is experienced enought to answer your query. nocrydisbelief

The email you sent on the old chat group hasn't solved your problem either, so your query will remain unsolved.

Nonethelesss, welcome to this forum and please post a reply to your question if you ever find the answer. smile

What frame are you sticking a TTR engine in?

TTR250 with 315cc big bore kit and Web Cams  is going in a Skyteam Ace 125 bike, you may not of heard of them so just google that.

I've mounted the engine in the frame and made exhaust etc.

the TTr250 engine is actually slightly smaller in size than the 125 its replacing and is only 2kg heavier.

Still have to buy some jets etc for the VM36 Mikuni

What is the idea behind it? You wanted to make the Skyteam go faster? Did the Skyteam engine go cappoot?

I'd rather have  28hp than 8hp. the 125 Skyteam 125 is very gutless, it certainly will be much more fun to ride

with extra power I upped the 27mm forks to 30mm, wider alloy rims/tires, 200mm cb450 front 2LS drum brake, KTM 2LS rear brake. since this pic was taken

That, to me, looks like a Honyaktm. biggrin

Very nice indeed - I like the looks of it.

Not very good on the lanes undoubtedly but at least the power plant is put to good use.

Wow - looking forward to seeing some more photos!

I see you have fitted Web camshafts - the first owner to say they have done this. Which of their cams did you choose?

Wow!  You have finished the bike off beautifully!

Thanks for feedback on the cams. Does the engine still tick over nicely with them fitted and does it run smoothly through the rev range or is there a "hit" at certain engine speed?

I would be interested to see a close up of the engine to see how you finished it off if that is possible?
