Digital Speedo Fuse?

I spent the day tidying up the previous owners electrical work. Tin foil covered main fuse, scotch-loks used to splice three or four wires, and an lot of twisted wire joints covered in electrical tape :/

Anyway some where along the way I've lost all power to the digital speedo. One of the previous "repairs" was a red wire that was run from somewhere under the tank up to the speedo. I'm pretty sure it was a permanent live because when I used a screw-driver to unscrew the chocolate-block connector I think it sparked to the frame. I'm hoping that there is a fuse hidden away somewhere in the speedo supply circuit?

Can anyone tell me if there is a fuse tucked away somewhere?

Sorry Dan but the only fuse is the one atop the battery box cry

If you put a live feed on to the red connector.wire going into the speedo does it light up?

I'll give that a go at the weekend :)

A guess the main fuse should be a 15A? The tin-foil covered fuse didn't have a readable rating on it :(

I've attached a pre-tidy up photo for your amusement.

All sorted:)

Followed Brian's advice and proved the speedo still worked by using a flying lead straight from the battery. 

Luckily I've got test leads on my multi-meter that are needle sharp so you can test for voltage by pushing them through the wire's insulation. It makes tracking down a break that bit less painful. I found I had 12v near the regulator but not at the head-stock end. Then I spotted another twisted joint under the tank. This one had been covered with a heat shrink sleeve and the wires had parted inside it.

Hi... how did you break-apart the speedo without to crack it ?
I'll give a try to fix my speedo from a short circuit but i don't know how to open it without crack the shell...

I cut around the join with a very thin cutting disc on my Dremel - if I recall correctly.
