So my bike was getting hard to start from

cold checked compression it was done so new piston and rings have been fitted valves relapped new stem seals timing chasing and cam drive gears built up and runs great once warm so I stripped the carb cleaned everything and rebuilt still the same I have noticed the the link pipe from carb to airbox is split near what I think is called the scavenger box bit would this cause the poor start from cold? And could I replace with a pecie of silicone pipe as I have heaps of it?

Thanks keith

Could be choke not working? When warmed up and on tick over, does pulling out the choke make a difference? Should make the engine blubber and die.

Regarding the split, which part do you mean from fiche pic below?

Yeah the choke when hot makes it splutter and die. The split is part 14 at the top it's split.

I looked at some of the intake boots on my spare airboxes and some have suffered damage in that area. Just to check, is it in the area I have arrowed in the pic below?

If not too bad then silicone should seal it otherwise drop me an email if you need a replacement.

I think its just a resonator to keep down intake noise 😞   its discription in parts is listed as an "air chamber"
