hi, what's the story with the white (and blue I think too) fork axle clamp? The Haynes manual section 5C-7 has an illustration 4.33 which has the clamp marked number 23 and unhelpfully doesn't even name number 23 in the key. My friend thinks you should tighten the top 2 nuts first about 5ft/lb torque then the bottom 2 just tight enough for them to bite. Also bouncing the forks with the brake on to settle the fork square on the axle before tightening. Anyone agree or have a different view (inc. torque setting) please?

I think you are over thinking things, just tighten the axle clamp up spanner tight, at diagonals. The axle is never going to fall out..
