I have a L reg TTR for sale, I just don't use it much these days. It is a 4GY Chassis No, Open Enduro model.

Owned by me for four and a half years, used for pottering on forest tracks mainly.

It is in servicable condition, having it's MOT last month, so it is fully road legal and well maintained, everything works, but it looks quite used!

It recently had a new battery and a voltage regulator.

It has road legal Enduro tyres which are not great for sustained road use, so would be best changed if it is to be used mainly on the tarmac.

I stay in the South of Scotland and am looking for an offer near to £750.

Well, no interest, so I am going to drop my asking price. This is a good bike and seems cheap already but I could do with a sale and would like to avoid the world of eBay, so am going to reduce my expectation and say offers near to £650?

It's ready to rock mate. Engine sounds sweet, few dents on the tank is the only real downer. I think this will be the green laner and the blue one will get a bit of a baby supermoto jobby done in a while when the XS is finished.

Had a decent day, no traffic on the roads at all going, got on the m6 at Haydock, set the cruise at 68 and never touched it till I turned off 140 miles further. Bills a nice lad, even had an Smt same as mine, stopped for 2 Scotch pies and an Iron Bru on the way back. Left at 8, back in just before 4

Right, I'm kidding myself with this, time for a grown up reality check. I won't be using it off road as my knees just won't take it. I haven't got the room to store it, I've got other bikes to bugger about with and very little time these days.
In my opinion it is perfect for laning, goes well, everything works as far as I can tell, motor sounds sweet. It's just a bit scruffy. It's motd for a good while. I've only been up and down 1 lane on it, it's still in the back of my van. I'll even deliver it within 20 miles of M29 for a brew.
So, if anyone wants it for the £750 it actually cost me they can come and take it. I'm not attempting to or making a penny, realistically I'm losing money but hey ho.

First come first served, no timewasters please. It's an OLD bike.

Yeah sorry I didn't get back to you sooner.. I've still been struggling to get a proper quote.. Most places won't insure the bike (confused, compare the market etc don't even list the bike as an option), and then the ones who do come out with silly high quotes.

Only option I can see at the minute is to go with a bike that the major insurers recognize. If I find a good insurer for the ttr otherwise, I'll let you know! And baggers I'll definitely give you a shout when I sort something out :)

Strange I managed to do mine via compare the meerkat... Think some insurers websites sometimes have an issue thinking it either is/isn't an import etc and the website messes up.

I think the problem is that some TTR's are imports and that seems to hike the price up a bit....

All a bit odd as no TTR is actually made in the UK so all are imports wink

If you actually ring a company, the number plate will allow them to get a quote for you, I'm paying a touch under £375 fully comp on a 1994 CRM 250, a 1993 TTR250 and a 1982 GPZ 550, all of which are imports, the trailies are from Jap-land, the Kwak from America-land. I'm 20 with 4 years no claims, the GPZ actually brought the quote down from £400 and something. Is this bike still knocking about, I'm weighing up grabbing a cheap TTR and a cheap XT 350 to try and mash the two together, it's been playing on my mind for a couple of years now...

The term import refers to "grey imports" basically a new or used vehicle that was imported legally into the country but not through the official distributor in the ttr case yamaha.Obviously individuals and private companys import cars and motorcycles that were intended for japanese domestic market or JDM for short. As some were not intended for sale in europe they may not meet standards insurers require this leads to a lot of mainstream insurers refusing to insure "grey imports" but there are plenty of specialist who will dont be fooled into paying over the odds shop about .

No, never heard owt. Bit mad how all this happened,  but when Baggers posted his mate was keen Bill had rung me a couple of times, but I was unaware as my daughter who had had her phone pinched was out with mine [you following biggrin] and didn't get back till late.  In the morning before I could ring him he texted and asked could he have it back. So I told Bill what was going on and someone was keen and in fairness I'd give Baggers mate a chance to come and see it. Anyroads, I never heard owt so it's on it's way back up to Jocksville,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,minus the bash plate biggrin

From what I can gather, the bottom end is very similar, the gear ratios appear to be the same, and I've been studying parts diagrams of both models, it looks like it's not too difficult a task. I'd have to come up with a solution to the twin carbs of the XT, I'm not sure if a TTR250 would allow them to fit, I'd need an air-box off the XT too, if I did do that, or come up with a solution to use the TTR carb with a splitter to the two manifolds.

The TTR 250 suits me down to the ground, I like the ergonomics of it, I like the weight. If I could do something with the forks and I'd like a kicker as a back-up. I love the way the engine makes it's power, compared with the modern four strokes, like the Husky TE 310, I just wish it had more. Mine probably has more power than a standard WR250F but not as much as a fully uncorked WR250. She was lifting the front in fourth when I put her back together, when I rode a standard WR250F, I could just about get it to pick up in 3rd, and wasn't as fast top-end as mine.

The plan with the TTR350, if I ever try to build it, would be get the engine going, then try to get a similar percentage boost in power out of the 350 engine, as I've done with the 250, then get a MASSIVE fuel tank, build a windscreen type of thing, get a rack sorted and tour with it. I'd then probably try the same again, if it worked, with my current TTR, but then set this one up for off-road duty, or vice versa, whichever is in the better nick. Although, a DR350 w

I realise of course, this is mostly pipe dreams. I picked up a 1999 Cagiva Mito 125, with the seven speed box on Saturday and had a look around at home and I've realised that there are now eight motorbikes here. I'm very quickly running out of space to keep more. Mother, for some weird reason, won't let me bring my Honda MT5 and my Stomp YX140 in the house to make space in the garage.

Yes mum. biggrin

The plan with that is to have a crack at pit bike super-moto, there's a go-kart track in Daventry, which is just down the road from me, that sets itself up for it every now and then. I just need to get some hand-guards and sliders fitted now and the bikes good to go, I just don't have any leathers. I have too many plans whizzing round my head. I'm eyeing up MZ 250's as well now. no It's a disease.
