Exhaust question....

Just been messing about with my Brothers new TTR, well happy with it, started on the button, but he wants a new pipe between the header and the silencer.. This one looks like it may give in when subject to a bit of green lane use, the silencer is a Laser Pro Duro, possibly not originally Destined for a TTR, but I don't really Know its about 14" between the end of the header and the can... Any advice on what may fit or where he could get one made, also Brian, do you have any rear shock bump stops??

Cheers, Rick

Oooooh- not pretty! I think you will need to find an exhaust specialist who could fabricate a section for that exhaust. Might be more cost effective to find a s/h exhaust made for the TTR though.

Regarding the bump stops, Justin Gibbs must have them as he fits them to my shock refurbs when needed but not sure if he would sell the separately by mail order. You can but ask - contact details here. There is a thread on here somewhere about making new ones up but I can't find it disbelief

Thanks Brian, I see Thundercat who advertised his TTR on here, is selling an FMF exhaust on ebay here www.ebay.co.uk/itm/fmf-q4-exhaust-yamaha-ttr-250-/171752243442 would that be a good buy for him, and are they road legal??

Cheers, Rick

The FMF Q4 is one of the more civilised after-market exhausts but still not "quiet". They are sold as offroad exhausts and don't have any E markings as best I can find out.

However, it's worth checking with your MOT man as I don't think exhausts have to have the E marking any more and its up to the tester whether the noise level is acceptable - I could be wrong though!

Yes it will be quite loud but will pass a mot, they fail if they have "not for road use" stamped on them.

These are relatively cheap for a new item www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dominator-Exhaust-Round-YAMAHA-TTR-250-99-06-DB-KILLER-/111560850157

Cheers chaps, I have a spare Micron can for my FZR, that has 'For road use' stamped on it, my Mate that I bought it off polished off the 'Not' hehe. Pete, those Dominators look like a real bargain, though I think he is going to try his luck bidding on Thundercats FMF first

I've got an FMF, it's sounds the business, proper thumpery. It seems to quieten on the go. I wouldn't say it was noisy anyroads. But I've had V2 Aprilias for 15 years

I've got the CRD on mine and it sounds really nice, like Mancunian I'm used to Aprilia V twins so it may not be to everyone's taste
