Going for a trail ride tomorrow - first since last October!

Dug the 325 out, checked the tyre pressures - amazingly all still spot on, checked the oil - all good there, pressed the starter and she fired right up - proper job biggrin

Checking her over and the RH footpeg support seemed a tad loose. Upon investigation, it turns out the rear bolt had sheared.

Centre punched the broken bolt and got the drill on it. After only a short time the bolt suddenly span itself out into the frame tube - result smile

Screwed a thread cleaner back and forth a few times in the hole and it moved easily so the threads weren't damaged in any way.

It was just a case then of finding a replacement bolt, putting a bit of Loctite on them both and bolting it all back together - job done.

I wasn't lucky the bolt sheared but very luck to find the problem in the garage rather than out on tomorrow's trail ride wink

Good trail riding weather forecast so fingers crossed for a successful inaugural 2015 ride out:

  • Saturday

Overnight rain should soon clear, leaving a bright and breezy day. Despite some lengthy sunny spells, it will feel much cooler than of late.

Brian

Oh dear, I was going to say something about pasties but if it's not been used since October what can be the cause? confuse

As you say though, better in the workshop than in the lanes. wink

Enjoy the run and loosen a few cobwebs. I hope the badgers aren't too plentiful.  biggrinbiggrin

Hi Pug

We are starting at Exmouth and staying in East Devon having a look at the lanes prior to the A2E next weekend. Dartmoor sounds nice though - have a good one biggrin
