They should be done up on the thread then just nipped up do not go gorilla on them they are brass and soft and damage will occur finger tight and a little nip will suffice

check the carb rebuild thread in the stickies very informative and will help you out biggrin

Yeah they are nice and soft! done up gently as hanzo says. Mixture screw should be around 2.5 turns out. Have you a picture of your project bike? Did you manage to find some side panels?

thankyou for replys i have only just found out how to find my posts... i have sort of side stepped from side pannels at mo and i have ordered a few parts which i think will help me get bike running i had the bike running but exhaust went very red straight away and was very loud so im just learning as i go on thanks too this site the bike will only be used for fields
as it would need a lot doing to get it to road i will get some pictures up on this post later on i believe its a year 1995-1996 and looks as tho its had many hands on it over years

i picked it up for £200 and im looking forward to getting it up n running and then getting it looking better to im enjoying tinkering with it :)

also the little jet screw in pic above was fully blocked so i have used carb cleaner on this ang got it cleaned up i have order a gasket for exhaust
also the rubber that attaches carb too engine was in a bad state (inlet stub and o ring) the exhaust is an fmf race pipe which came with bike
