do you tighten the rear wheel nut up to its specified torque or use a small tool kit spanner to tightening it up in case you need to undo it on the lanes?

tighten the hell out of it....
never put a torgue wrench on a wheel nut in 40 years
& never had one come off..

I use the tool kit spanner and my foot , so if need be I can get it undone in the bush

Never had one come loose. I only use the split pin for MOTs or when selling wink

Some dirt bike owners will service/repair their bike using, as far as possible, only the tools they carry when laning. That way they know what tools they have and that they work as intended.
