Indicator Relay on Blue TTR250
Permalink

I'm planning to change the indicators to the flexible min LED ones from Zen Overland.   As part of that I'll have to put on an LED compatible relay, only my wiring diagramme is for a non indicator equipped bike.  So could any please advise where the relay is mounted.  If not sure I'll be able to locate it somehow, but if the knowledge of you good people can short cut that then perfect.

Thanks in advance

Mark

No longer relevant as the Zen indicators turned out to be faulty! (though excellent service from Gabriel at Zen on the issue) Think I'll do what I probably should have done in the first place, go to Brian!

I will take my tank off & tell you what colours go where & all that, going from memory is not the best method (if you know what I mean).

To be continued...wink

Okay- First take your fuel tank off and find the three plug connector. One of these will be a blank (has no terminal) the other two plug into the indicator relay. They both should be brown, one has a white stripe. The location is below.

Now that you found it (hopefully)..

This brown wire with a white stripe wire goes into the L marked on the relay. The other brown wire goes to the B marked on the relay. The diagram below should highlight this.

The wires at the front & back are both as I mentioned in my last post- Left hand: Brown & Black & Right hand: Green & black.

The black is the earth, the others run from the relay.

This is where you should find the indicator wires at the front (below).

Hope that helps?

Jarrah

I forgot to mention that- in addition to my last post there is two Black & Brown wires. These are for the turn signals intrument lights and should be located near the speedometer or hour meter. The black wire is an earth & the other is power which joins to both Left Hand indicator curcuit & the Right Hand indicators. Not sure if you have all the wiring nessesary but it would be worth looking. The picture below should help to find these wires.

No problems Mark, it kinda helps me too. I am in the process of re-wiring my 1999 WR400 as someone thought it would be cool if it looked like a YZ. You would have thought that they would just unplugged it but NOoo they butchered it nodisbeliefno Anywayz, that's another story.

If you don't have the wiring nessesary let me know & I'll take you through it as I will be re-wiring my (newly acquired WR400) indicators.

Enjoy!

Jarrah

Indicator or Flasher Relay on blue TTR250
Permalink

Hi, I've only had my TTR a couple of weeks, it came with no indicators but 3 fat manuals.

I have some second-hand winkers on the way, and I have found the wiring connectors for them, but, on looking I can't find the flasher relay, nor any unexplained "orphan" loom connections, and none of the manuals acknowledges the existence of flashers, winkers, indicators or turn signals. The handlebar switch is there!

Please someone, tell me where should the flasher relay be located on my Blue Plastic Tank bike? and maybe show me what it looks like.

Cheers,

Robin.

Thanks for that Brian, clear as crystal.

I'm just off out on the bike, so when I get back, I'll have the tank off again and hopefully spot the little divil.
Cheers,
Robin.

Yep - that's fine.

The photo I posted was the only one I had and the extra wires are from the indicator buzzer I fitted - see here

Cheers Brian,
I fitted a buzzer, years ago, on a BMW, that was before I went deaf, nowadays all one would do for me, is annoy everybody else!
In an old thread about indicators and buzzers, some say, take the indicators off and rely on the "VMCC" self cancelling Hand Signals, when out on my old bikes I certainly do, BUT---
1) I feel safer doing that when I remember to wear high-viz wristbands. 2) New and newish drivers do not have to learn about hand signals, so lots of the b*ggers have no idea what you are telling them, even if they do happen to notice you! 3) If you take off the indicators but leave on the handlebar switch, you are asking for trouble--mostly because it contravenes MOT regs.----and I'd probably forget that I'd removed them!
Robin.
