out of all the parts that are in my engine (bought it disassembled), this is the only bit I cant identify. My manual hasn't arrived and I havent seen it in the parts schematic. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That looks remarkably like a piece of "sprag" from the sprag clutch!

Does your electric starter work? hmm

Thanks mate. I thought the same but the sprang looks ok. I will replace it anyway.

Hi guys. I am pretty sure it isn't anything to do with the sprag side. It looks like the locating "Woodruff" key that holds the clutch driving gear onto the RH side of the crankshaft. See pic below.

Wow - a lot less trouble to correct than a sprag unit.

Guess who hasn't had a lot of engine dismantling to do confuse

....... me smile

I was fortunate in obtaining a good TTR example perhaps. aww
