Fork advice

hi all. On my first trip out green laning (and falling off) it seems I've slightly bent a front fork making the steering off centre.

is it advisable to have the fork leg straightened or will it always be a weak point now?

are there forks from other bikes that'll fit or is there a popular upgrade?

thanks in advance for any advice

Oh dearĀ bleh - but I'd advise a close inspection before lashing out on new stanchions and things. wink

Try looseing the clamps holding the stanchions to the top and bottom triple clamps.

At the same time loosen the front wheel clamps and spindle nut.

When they're all loosened try rotating the handlebars gently left and right and pushing the suspension up and down to align everything to point STRAIGHT forward.

Doing this against the front brake ought to align the forks - it did for me when mine "badgered" me badly. blankstare

Don't forget to tighten everything back up after the testing. wink

The fork tubes are quite substantial and are not really prone to bending so this, hopefully, will be all that's required.

I agree with Martyn, I struggle to believe you've bent the stanchions, loosen everything off, realign and then torque it all back up again. I've twisted my forks in a big off, but the above procedure got everything straight again.

Thanks so much guys,it was as you've described, all sorted now. Hardest part of the job was getting the broken key out of the steering lock after forgetting to take it out!!
