Happy to have found a place in which I can understand how to become independent to ride Africa with Koji, my Ttr Raid 250 bought in 2010 just before a trip to Namibia.
It's what they call here a "grey import from japan", bought with km 20k and now we are at km 41k between Namibia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Mozambique mainly secondary african roads and getting ready soon to visit Botswana.
Can't wait to explore this forum that I just discovered!!!
Thank you all for all the good informations you post!
Ciao,
Giovanni

I have traveled a few times in a number of Southern African countries including those mentioned but not yet on a bike there. My original plan for the Christmas break this year was to ship my TTR to Madagascar, ride around, and then ship it out to Mozambique waiting for the next vacation. I think you have the perfect bike for that part of the world, and what a place it is indeed. I envy you! Ride safe though, enjoy!
Squire, Madagascar was beautiful!!! I went in 2006 with a rented Dr650 from Tamatave to Maroansetra and at that time they were re-building the road on the coast since a typhoon washed away bridges and coastline, so it was tough but magic. In case you'll go to Mozambique, don't miss the area between Pemba/Marrupa/Montepuez/Cobue before is too late, I heard in 2012 while I was there that they want to build a proper road...
