Ok I'm new to this forum but my ttr 250 needs a new CID box. Can I use a CID box from a smaller ttr? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've only got to ride it once since I got it and took it to a shop and they said the CDI box went out.

Hi Trevor, welcome to TTR land.

Sorry, but no other Yamaha uses part No 4gy-85540-00 CDI unit.

It's only shown as used by TTR250 - all models.

This distributor, however, lists it as sutable for a 2003 Honda TTR225 model and a Kawasaki confuse ?????

Hi Trevor and another welcome to the forum!

What are the symptoms? Unusual for the TTR CDi to go wrong.

No point in replacing it with one from a different bike as a used CDi from a TTR is cheap enough biggrin

If you get stuck let me know.

Ok thank you. Could you roll start it with out the cdi box working or no?

Thank y'all and all it does is crank crank and crank and before it started and idled and shut off and now nothing and the shop told me it was the cdi.

 If the CDI doesn't spark the plug it would be pointless trying to roll starting the bike - there's nothing to make the BANG.

Best look for a used CDI from a TTR.

Ok here's my tread I made ttr250.activeboard.com/t58856680/cid-box-went-bad/
This is literally the only place I could find help for my bike besides spending a lot of $ at the shop which I'd rather not.
