Jet age - carb sorted at last
Permalink

Since I bought my TTR a couple of years ago it's been a bit spluttery cold and less pickup against my son's TTR, I have done the normal stuff x3 times or more. Then looking through the parts list Brian mentioned about pilot jets being difficult to clean, so I ordered up a couple of replacement jets a bit larger, plus other bits as you do. I fitted the jets yesterday (no adjustment to the carb otherwise) and it was a different bike, from starting better, running cold better and more pull, I took it around the block and it's much improved - sorted at last.

The bike now has a FMF Q4 exhaust ( but it was a pain with the std box), to attenuate it a bit, I fitted a Hitchc0cks Royal Enfield 1.5" exhaust baffle, with  a bit cut off and just pushed into the s-bend on the pipe leading into the silencer, works a treat. Shuts it up with no loss of power.

Good to hear you got the carb sorted biggrin

Interesting solution on the baffle. I tried quietening a silencer using one of those a few years ago but in the rear end of the exhaust with little effect. Hadn't thought of putting it in the front!
