Revving up on her own

Having trouble with my TTR again. furious I love her but sometimes I want to throw her to the scrap-man.

After recently inadvertently putting diesel in the bike I have been having fuelling issues, I cleaned the fuel lines out, drained the tank and have cleaned the carb about 3 times. I can not see anything wrong with it. All the rubber looks to be in reasonable shape and condition, although will be replacing all the gaskets in the carb anyway just to see if it helps and for peace of mind.

I swapped all the diesel for petrol again, cleaned the carb again and stuck it on the bike, she was running like a champ as if nothing had ever happened, I did about 50 miles trouble free on Saturday, I thought all issues were solved and she was ready to get me to work again on Monday. About a mile away from home, she just started revving up on her own ,again, this is what first alerted me to any running problems. I would guess that she's ticking over at about 3,000RPM, but the tickover screw does nothing when playing with it when that's happening. It sounds like an air leak to me, it was leaking air before, but I replaced the inlet boot Saturday morning and, like I say, it was all going really well.

The carb is also leaking fuel from either the float bowl or the diaphragm section at the bottom of the carb, could air be being sucked into the diaphragm section and causing it to send more fuel through the engine?

Please help, I'm bored of being back on the Varadero 125 again and my 140 pit bike ran out of insurance last week and I can't be bothered to renew it again...

Thanks,
Adam

Sorted her. How I missed that bike.

My personal theory now is that the screw in the top linkage, that connect the throttle body to the arm that actuates the accelerator pump kept vibrating loose. The looseness in the screw meant that the arm was not closing diaphragm correctly, causing it to stick and allow a tiny bit of fuel through all the time and rev up a touch, some Loctite, other brands available, around the screw threads and seems to have cured the problem and apart from the leak from the bottom of the accelerator pump, its back to normal again.
