Need to replace sprockets when replacing timing chain?

Hi All

Just discovered this forum and I'm impressed, so much good info!

I'm about to replace the timing chain on my 05, the manual says to replace the sprockets too. Is it necessary, and do all 3 sprockets need replacing or just the top 2?

First time I recollect seeing this question so unlikely to be anything in the archives Pendo.

In my experience it is the the chain that wears and stretches. A new one has always restored the marks on the sprockets to parallel for me so, unless there are signs of visible wear (hooking?) on the sprockets then I would try fitting just a new chain first.

By the way, welcome to the forum! Don't forget to introduce yourself here when you have a spare moment wink
