Australia to UK on my TTR
Permalink

Hi all.

Thought I'd introduce myself. I'm Mark from NZ. In march I flew to Darwin and bought a 2011 TTR250 with 5000kms on it, sent it to East Timor and I'm currently en route to the UK.

My route isTimor, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar (hopefully), India, Nepal, Pakistan, Iran, Iraq (Kurdistan), Turkey then Europe

If anyone else is doing the same thing or coming the other way on a TTR or other, get in touch. fishernz@gmail.com

Cheers

Mark

Wow that's some trip and you'll certainly have some story to tell for years to come.

Enjoy the adventure and I wish you a safe journey.

Here are a few pics of the journey so far.

Other than a slight problem with the carb due to dirty fuel, the TTR is certainly living up to its bulletproof reputation!IMG_0992.JPGIMG_1140.JPGIMG_0133.JPGIMG_0400.JPGIMG_0414.JPG

Hey Ted

Yeah I'm a bit far from Timor, I'll be in Nepal tomorrow. There's a Canadian on a Triumph Tiger who's kicking around Asia for a bit, romeoriding.blogspot.com and a kiwi guy who's in Indonesia, RTWshane on Facebook.

If you've got any questions drop me a line, fishernz@gmail.com. Are you riding a TTR250 too??

Good luck. Indonesia is beautiful. Make sure you check out the Blue Flames at the Ijen Crater and Mt Bromo! The traffic is insane from Bali onwards.

Cheers

Mark

Hi Mark,  have fun in Nepal, wonderful place.  I'll be interested to see what altitude you get to on the TTR... If you have time it's well worth doing a walking trek out toward or into the mountains.

where do you head after Nepal, I assume back through western India, but what happens then? India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, or north into China and then through various other Stan's heading West? Very adventurous either way.

I'm not on the road I'm living in Timor and do ride a TTR here and it's the perfect choice (unless I need parts which I don't, touch wood).

Stay safe and all the best.

Ted

Just re-read your OP, so i see route is Pakistan,  Iran, Kurdistan.  My hats off, sounds fantastic.  Keep smiling at people and don't ask if they've got any bacon.

Question that I have wondered about for a while....

How do you get on with the Rego & WOF when you are going
from country to country.....

Well good luck Mate!

You'll especially need it when you hit the Pakistan/Iran/Irac(Kurdistan) bit. Apart from the 30-45 degrees in the shade, there will be some nasty people knocking about, so keep your head covered, and don't get involved in too many conversations!

Excellent photos. Glad to hear it's all going well. Bike, rider and gear look a bit more worn than in the first pictures, but still very serviceable.
I bet the poor bike was running pretty rich at that altitude, or did you have rejet?

Look forward to the next update.

Ted

I got in touch with Mark to find out what happened next and he has replied to say that he made it as far as Bulgaria before running out of money so left the TTR there and flew home to work, save money and return the following year.

However, he ended up staying in NZ and joining the Fire Brigade so, unfortunately, adventure riding and travelling has taken a back seat for him.

Nevertheless I am sure we have enjoyed his blog and photos - great stuff - thanks Mark!
