A guide to posting pictures and other helpful tips

Hello all you newbies out there (and everyone else reading). wink

Just thought that I would make a guide to posting pictures and other help tips to help newbies become a pro at this site (like myself and most others ;). First of all I would like to start with an easy one and work to the more technical stuff. I will try to separate info to save any confusion and make it as easy to read as possible.

How to post pictures by uploading them to this site-

First of all I would like to warn you that this method may or may not work with other browsers or OS (operating systems) so Mac users and people using different browsers may experience success using a different method? confuse

You can post pictures without uploading them to a separate host site like Facebook, Microsoft SkyDrive, Photobucket etc. and upload the pictures directly from your computer or USB device. It is simple, when you click on reply, type the text, now before you click ''Submit Post'' look down in the left hand corner of the screen. You will see a tab that looks like this-

 Attach Image(s)

Posting_pics1.jpg

Attached Files

Now find the pictures that you want to upload on your computer. They will usually be under ''Pictures'' or a folder that you have saved for them. For USB devices click ''Computer'', and then scroll down to find the specific USB device you are looking for. Now that you have found the picture(s) that you want to upload, double-click the picture or click it once and then click ''Open''. It will begin to upload the picture(s) to this site, bear in mind that you may have to wait awhile if you have a slow internet connection or are uploading multiples at once.

Now that you have the pictures uploaded to this site, you can insert them by clicking spot on the page that you want to insert them and then the ''Insert'' tab, or remove them by clicking the ''Remove'' tab. They will look like this-

[Remove][Insert]

After the picture has appeared in your message, delete the file so that the thumbnail doesn't appear at the bottom of your message when you post it up.

This method is by far the best, if you have not already uploaded it to a host site like Facebook, Photobucket etc., you do not have to use the method that I am about to mention...

How to upload pictures from host sites (ie. Photobucket)

First you have to upload the pictures to the host site preferable to you. Now that you have them uploaded to the online host site, right click the mouse on the picture, click copy, now go back to this site and click on the area in the post that you want the images and right click the mouse again. Click ''Paste'' and it will insert it into your post.

The other way is to click the URL at the top of the screen (i.e. http://ttr250.activeboard.com/p/new/?subForumID=532050), it will turn blue, now hold the cursor over the URL, right click your mouse and click copy. Paste it into the post to where you would like it.

Remember: If you delete or move the picture from the online site, it will not show on this site.

That is all for now, hope that helps? confuse

Jarrah

That's brilliant Jarrah - very many thanks for posting the instructions up - most appreciated!

I hope you don't mind but I slipped in a couple of screen shots which may help. If you don't think they help just delete them from your post.

Brian

No problems Brian, thanks for the screen shots! I cannot find a decent program to convert screenshots to the right format.

Cheers!

Although I have Photoshop I use FastStone Image Viewer which is so much quicker and simpler to use for basic stuff like screen captures etc. It's also free wink

Thanks Brian, I was not aware that Faststone did such a thing.

I thought I would update this thread to include how to add URL's.

For Newbie users

To leave a URL of the page that you want to share you can copy and paste the link to the post. To do this first navigate to the page that you want to share, now look up in the top left hand corner and you will see the URL (AKA link) in the HTTP referrer. It will look like this-

2014-04-14_175221.png

Click on the URL using your cursor, it will turn blue like the URL below-

2014-04-14_171338.png

Now right-click your mouse. A tab/window will open with the selections cut, copy, paste delete etc.. Choose copy. Navigate to your post and click where you would like the URL inserted. Now right click your mouse, the window tab with the selections cut, copy, paste delete etc. will open. Click paste and the URL will be inserted into post where you want it.

Advanced users

Once you get the hang of posting links, you may find that the link looks ugly or you would rather name the link. To do this first navigate to the page that you want to share, now look up in the top left hand corner and you will see the URL (AKA link) in the HTTP referrer. Click on the URL using your cursor, it will turn blue like the URL below-

2014-04-14_171338.png

Now right-click your mouse. A tab/window will open with the selections cut, copy, paste delete etc.. Choose copy and navigate to your post. Now using your cursor, circle only the text that you want to be a link and click the ''Insert/Edit link icon''-

2014-04-14_182447.png

A window will open like the one below. Click the Link URL tab and right click your mouse-

2014-04-14_183936.png

The cut, copy, paste delete etc. window will open. Select ''paste'' and it will paste the URL. Now select target and choose ''Open link in a new window''.

2014-04-14_184820.png

Disregard the title as there is no need to use it. Now click the insert tab-

2014-04-14_190749.png

Congratulations, you have successfully named the link.

Enjoy!

Jarrah
