Hi Keith

My understanding is that the crankcases are a matched pair which is because of their gasketless mating surfaces. Yamaha doesn't sell them separately.

What's happened to yours - is it not repairable?

Brian

PS I have a pair for sale if you want to go that way - see http://www.ttr250.com/totallyttrs/Used_parts/#Crankcases

sorry my typo error its the left hand engine cover over the generator and sprag clutch. got a big hole in it where the gear runs from the starter to the sprag clutch.

It must be part number 1 in the parts diagram below, part number #4GY-15411-02-00-

Diagram of Yamaha Motorcycle Parts 1999 TTR250R - TT250RL CRANKCASE COVER 1 Diagram

Unfortunately very hard to find. no However, you can use any TTR250 casing so that should help narrow the search a little. wink

Are you starter gears worn ? as thats what may of caused it to go ,i had a grinding on startup on my old bike and when i broke the engine i found the clutch casing had broken up and one of the lugs has gone round and cracked the R/H casing

If not chemical metal makes a good permanent repair if done properly
