Help with gearing and tyre size
Permalink

Hi Guys,

Just bought a 2006 ttr250. cant wait to get out on it!!

Just changing the sprockets and tyres to make it more offroad friendly

got a question,

Going to run 13-48 sprockets, got a new 110/100/18 ac10 tyre.

Is this combo going to fit? Fitting a new chain as well.

Searching the site it seems it might not fit? ie, with 110 links, chain might be too long for those sprockets, but with 108, the tyre might sit to close to the swingarm?

Anyone running this size combo?

Was going to get a 100/100 tyre but yamaha dealer was saying I should fit 110/100 as its the correct size for that model.

Any help appreciated.

Cheers Leigh.

No sure of the link number but it pays to keep the wheel back a bit or gets a bit close to the swing arm and shock cover .

Also the M12,tires are very good also .a bit more full on dirt

 Welcome to the forum leigh

With 13/48 it will be 108 links.

Enjoy!

According to the US fiche site the wheel sizes are-

TIRE (80-100-21 D739F)

(100-100-18 59M D739)

This info is from the sevice manual-

Front: 80/100-21 51M

Rear:100/100-18 59M

The 110/100 will fit but is not what Yamaha originally used for the TTR250.

Maybe ''Yamaha'' should read the service manual more often. wink

Thanks for your help guys!

Just so you know all fitted up ok.

13/48. With 108 links. 110/100 fits no problem. About 20mm between tyre and plastic shock shield thingy.

Snail adjuster is on no. 8

Cheers Leigh.
