Alternative (Landrover) number plate light
Permalink

Hi all

Just fitted a new number plate light to my blue model TTR. I broke the original numberplate light and wanted to replace it with something of similar dimensions without paying Yamaha's price. There are lots of alternatives out there but initially I couldn't find anything wide enough to hide all three holes in the secondary part of the rear mudguard (the black bit on European bikes, if you get what I mean). Anyway, after sitting behind a Landrover the other day, inspiration struck!

I bought a "LAND ROVER DEFENDER - LED License Number Plate Lamp (PRC7255LED)" - Cost £12.50  - on ebay.uk from "DLS Landrover Spares UK".

I'm very happy with the result after fitting it today. (See the three photos attached.)

I used part of the original lamp wires to extend the ones on the new lamp and used the M5 screws that came with the new lamp and some oversized washers on the two outer holes in the rear mudguard.

Hope this might help someone

Not a bad match plus you could fit your reflector to it and move your number plate up a bit wink

I did this with a range rover classic one I had sitting around, it's great when random spares you accumulate serve a purpose!

It is certainly satisfying to use parts that you have around and have kept "just in case" biggrin

However, anyone without such a handy part can find a cheap alternative here wink
