Would a YZ426 front end, wheel, brake, usd forks work with little mods on my us 2006 TTR?

What would need to be done?

The forks are the same from 2003 WR/YZ125~ WR/YZ450 and earlier- 46mm forks. Obviously the spring rates change from 125 to the 450's though.

In 2004 they changed to 48mm, but they should still work provided all 04 parts are changed i.e. triple clamps, brake line, caliper, wheel etc..

There is a few methods that work....

Use the WR/YZ triple clamps and get the triple clamp machined to fit the TTR250 steering stem, or...

Use a spacer for the YZ steering stem.

See HERE and HERE for more info.

Just to verify- the YZ forks still have the locking tabs for the speedo but the WR wheel must be used  (as the YZ wheels have no locking tabs) if the speedo is to work without machining. You will have to use the WR speedo drive as the axle size is different.

Enjoy!

Found a 2002 YZ 426 front end,  wheel, brake, and shock for 180 bucks on craigslist.

The install took three trips to town to get the right parts.  I needed a few washers for the stem and triple, about 2cm stack.

The bike didn't come with an axle, so i ordered on ebay 15.

Somehow they wheel spacing was off  by 1cm on each side.  I had a buddy cut a 3/4 pipe to form better spacers.

Rode it it felt great on the road.  i will get it dirty on Monday.
