Trail riding in North Devon, UK

I had an invitation to go to North Devon for a day's trail riding and have only recently got back home after a great day on some of North Devon's finest.

We started out from Croyde and got as far East as Brendon, a picturesque little village on the Exmoor National Park.

One or two of the lanes were very dusty and I was very glad to have been using my visored helmet which kept it all out of my face.

I didn't take many pics as my two riding buddies were on WR450Fs and weren't hanging about!

We had to stop on one of the early lanes and get a pruning saw out to clear the end of a fallen tree to get by:

I only use a cheap digital camera so my scenic pics don't come out too well. But I assure you the scenery was stunning!

We stopped for an "award winning" fish & chip lunch at the lovely village of Lynton:

There are steep wooded valleys in that area with some challenging lanes. The following pic gives an idea of the sort of countryside we were riding in.

After passing through Ilfracombe on our way back to base, we rode a cliff-top lane with a great view across to Wales. The boat nearest the camera is the MS Oldenburg which takes tourists to Lundy Island.

A great day in excellent company. The TTR325 didn't miss a beat and was well able to keep with its big brothers, the WR450Fs, on the lanes.

Feeling a bit tired now though....

Brian

What a day you picked - it looked to be fabulous. Jim and Hammy look happy too. biggrin

If I'd been fitter I'd have jumped at a chance to sample the North of the county.

Thanks for sharing the pictures and experience, Brian. smile

Obviously the big TTR you were riding has had a good mechanic maintaining it and is well honed and fettled.

It looks as if Autumn is upon is by the looks of that steep wooded valley picture. hmm

Couldn't have been better weather Martyn! Sorry you still aren't fit cry

Jim and Hamster were certainly happy - the following pic is after we had consumed our fish & chips sitting on the harbour steps as Lynton:

and another deep in the Lyn Valley woods on a little concrete bridge across the lane that looks like it should have fallen in many years ago!

It was certainly Autumn conditions under the trees:
