I just got back from riding the TTR for a few days in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, north of Lake Tahoe.  Since not many of you are in North America, let alone California, I posted the report on the XT forum.  If you are interested in seeing the pics and report of my time there, I have posted a full report on the XT forum:

Thanks for the brief report and the pictures, Larry.

I presume the TTR didn't let you down and you enjoyed the experience.

It sure looks a bit more rugged than here in Devon (UK).

Thanks, guys. Between 6,000 and 8,000 ft the TT-R was not running that well. (I am positive that it is tuned to rich for those altitudes, because it runs sweet from sea level up to about 5,000 ft.) However, it still had enough power for me to enjoy the experience. Sam's TT-R ran well, according to him, but he has the after market exhaust system on his bike, too.

You could try taking the airbox cover off and see if that helps? If so, stash it safely on the bike until you descend smile

I am glad to hear you make that suggestion, Brian, because I thought about doing just that, but felt unsure as to whether it was a good idea with all the dust that got thrown up in the air in some places. I'll try it next time I go up in the mountains. I just went for a real short ride, here at home (800 ft), and the thing pulls like a real champ, again.
