Linkage rebuild problem

I think the kit is correct, ordered from TTRfan ;) My old oem collars didn't have that hole (greasing hole?), which is on the diagram... Maybe that aren't oem collars.. So why old screws fit perfectly?

Hi there - sorry to hear you are having problems.

Can you confirm that you have tightened up the link arm nuts and bolts as per the workshop manual torque settings please? See details below.

The reason I ask is that the collars should be tight and not allow any movement.

Regards

Brian

Yes, they were tightened with proper torque. So the slightly bigger inner diameter of all balls collars shouldn't be a problem? Maybe thickness of washers is wrong... I'm not sure which parts are OEM, which are not, and i can't find proper dimensions of that parts.

I have rebuilt linkage and rear absorber bearings in my 96 OE with all balls linkage kit and after putting it all together I have found that there is still a significant swingarm vertical play. confuse I have realized that collars, that come with all balls kit (marked 27, 28, 29 on swingarm diagram from this site: http://www.yamaha-motor.de/de/informationen/yamaha-ersatzteile-katalog.aspx/index.aspx) have slightly bigger inner diameter than oem parts, so my original screws 32 i 33 don't fit tight and maybe that causes vertical play?  What are your suggestions?

Sorry to hear you're having problems.  I recently installed the all balls kit on my 93 OE and I didn't have any vertical play on the linkage.  Perhaps the kit you were sent was incorrect or your linkage is not standard?

If the nuts and bolts are torqued up correctly then the collars will be held tightly and will not move.

Any up and down movement can only be between the bearings and the collars and not the bolts and collars. With new bearings fitted there shouldn't be any noticable play.

I replaced all of the linkage bearings on my TTR325 with an AllBalls kit a couple of days ago prior to taking it for its annual MOT test on Monday and there was no play at all after fitting.

It would seem unlikely that rogue parts have found their way into a kit but I am happy to check if you send me the appropriate internal diameter measurements of the collars. I am keen to help resolve your issue!

Brian

Thanks, you helped me a lot. There is no play on new fitted bearings, everything seems to be perfect. Inner diameter of old collars is 16mm, of new ones, ~16.6 ? I will try to fit only collars and check if they're held tightly.
