TTR250 starting problem
Permalink

I have a 2000 TTR250 that I just bought.  Started fine several times before I bought it. Got it home an hour later and it wouldnt start. Really sluggish like battery dying. Had new battery installed. Worked fine rest of day and started once this morning and wouldnt start 15 minutes later. Same problem. Has 11.7 volts on battery. Drops to just under 4 volts when I try to start. Push started and checked volts again. Has just over 14 volts while running. Whats up?

Sounds like the battery might not be charging. If you have a battery charger you could make sure for definite by trying a full charge when it won't start, if that cracks it then you probably have a charging issue. Call me cynical but I would be surprised if the seller wasn't aware of the problem given how soon it manifested itself...

2 questions
1. Does the battery drain overnight with the key switch off
2. If you ride with the headlight on does the battery drain(while your riding)
