Hi , Just registered and thought I would introduce myself. I feel a bit of a fraud really because I haven't got a TTR yet! I'm still searching for one though. I have owned and ridden bikes since I was 16, some 40 odd years ago! My first bike was a BSA Bantam D7 which I bought for £7 . I soon upgraded to a BSA C15 SS80 and went touring UK. I did thousands of miles on that little 250 completing the National Rally and Dragon Rally in Wales on it before being fetched off at fairly high speeds by a hare in the vale of York. That wrote the bike off and didn't do me a power of good either! It did give me a taste for touring on two wheels though which I have never been able to overcome to this day. I returned to 'big' bikes in 1992 with a VFR750 when the children didn't want to come on holiday with the parents anymore, and since then had numerous big touring bikes for holidays in lumpy bits of mainland Europe. I've currently got a 1200GS(for two up touring), an older 1950's style Harley for solo chugging along the back roads of Norfolk! I want the TTR for off road trailing and to go on the back of my motorhome. I retire in March and my wife and I are looking to clear off and tour In four and on two wheels! OK so that's me done (not wishing to bore anyone more than absolutely necessary!) So if you know anyone with a really clean TTR for sale ...pm me Best wishes, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all...

Hi Valkman and welcome to the forum!

Nice bit of background there. My dirtbiking started as a teenager razzing around fields on Bantams and various Villiers engined bikes that we could get from the local scrappy for less than a fiver wink

Norfolk is probably too far away but a mate has just put his TTR on our local Devon forum - see http://devongtrf.activeboard.com/t46805641/ttr-250/

Very sensible price so probably won't hang around long.

Good luck in your TTR hunt!

Brian

And it's another warm welcome from Devon again from me too, Valkman. smile

Don't be disheartened by any lack of TTRs because owners appreciate their worth - they tend to hang on to them. Patience will reward you.

I hope you and your family have an enjoyable Christmas and are soon TTR riding in Norfolk come early 2012.

Martyn

Brian can you help. The link you have put on regarding your mates bike, I have looked at it and notice that the hand protectors are the same as mine. I am looking to replace  the plastics on mine and was wondering if you know the manufacturer of this type, as I have never seen any before, any help would be greatful, regards Mick.

Hi Brian thanks for the reply. I too used to hoon around on an old dirt bike - a Greeves Scottish! My brother in law had one also. In 1973 We went to the Isle of Mann for the TT on them with family members in an old two stroke Wartburg. He was a pretty good mechanic and altered the 4th gear into a really high gear so we could cruise at 50mph! to get there. - Great time!

Oh by the way Brian, thanks for the link to the OE for sale but I think I am going to try for a Raid. I shall be doing quite a bit of mileage two up and the Raid is probably more suited.

I have asked my mate if he knows the make etc and will let you know. My bro' has a pair on his TTR and they were just a cheap option from our local bike shop - Devon Green Lanes. I think they are just flown in in great quantities from China and it is unlikely you will get replacement plastics but let's see.

Thank you for the help, I will have to invest in a set or make an enquiry into the plastics. Mick
