Hi im Ed from Hitchin, ive just bought a cheap '93 open enduro. Initially to keep me on the lanes while I give my '79 DT 175 MX a bit of TLC. However I think that by the time ive sorted the ttr im going to end up keeping it!

It needs a few bits, like bearings etc, a general tidy up, and then an MOT.

Looks like a nice community on here, and hats off to Brian, your website was very helpful before I bought the bike.

Good morning, Ed from Hitchin, and welcome to THE TTR250 forum.

You realise that you may become swayed and keep the fettled TTR in favour of the DT. wink

I agree that Brian is the TTR Guru and dispenses his wisdom for the benefit of us all. biggrin

I may take the ttr places I cringe at taking the DT, but for the look on KTM owners faces after theyve chased a 32 year old bike through the woods, you cant beat it.

Need to finish building my shed before I can get stuck in, but I fear that the ttr will snowball! And bits are dearer and less common than the DT.

I want a full mot, and currently have no number plate light, does it usually wire from inside the rear light?

The number plate light is quite a substantial item and it connects into the loom just forward of where the LH side panel connects.

Here's a TTR wiring diagram that may assist:-

No 18 is the tail light and it's shown as the right hand element of the two in the bottom left hand corner of the diagram.

Thanks Martyn.

I can't find a good photo of the part of the bike where the tail light leads connect in - this is the best I can do - they join where indicated by the arrow:

You really should charge for this level of service!! Thanks alot gentlemen. I will probably rig up a white led pod that I have a few of. There used to light up shopfittings and backlight external signs. Should do the trick.

Thanks again.
