Hi all, i did a big ride at wkend and on cleaning bike up after had real problems getting dirt/stones /grass and all the other stuff out from behind the plastic cover that holds the electronic reader for the speedo, the speedo doesn't work any way and i don't need it. After removing it to clean around front sprocket, i thought it would be best to leave it off, my querie is will this cause any problems or danger having the cover off leaving the sprocket exposed?confuse Cheers Newboy

This explains the situation, Matthew:-

Clogging of front sprocket on white TTRs. It gets pretty tiresome removing the cover every time the bike gets near any dirt just to clean it out. Johnny Davies has modified the cover to allow mud etc to escape rather than build up into a nice compacted lump around the front sprocket - pictures in the Files area of the TTR250 Yahoo Group - in the "sprocket cover pics" folder. Looks simple but effective. An alternative is the bespoke alloy cover here

The Y2K TTRs have a conventional speedo driven by a front wheel cable so don't suffer quite so much with this problem.

As explained here:- CLICKY TAG

I suppose NZ will be different from GB because we need a speedo on our bikes to be legally on the Queen's Highway.
