Rough idle, backfire
Permalink

hmm Hi,

Swapped my YZ250 last year for a 2006 250TTR and love it. Had no issues until a moderate crash put the throttle grip into a bind with the barkbuster. I had to remove the throttle assy to correct the problem, I had no issues with the reassembly but the bike now idles very rough with a mild backfire and seems to run hot. Because of the throttle jam the bike would not return to idle so I do not know if the crash caused the rough idle or if I did something wrong with the throttle cables.

I can find nothing out of place so any advice would be great.

If it worked OK before the off then what else could it be?

Check and test all the cables, twistgrip, adjusters and frame/cable clips - something may be binding.     confuse

Might also be worth checking float height and that the needle is seated properly? Before anything else though, I would bung a new spark plug in ... ya never know ... ?
